Topic Training – Layering (Set 1)
Strengthen your layering skills in realistic course sequences
In this course, you’ll learn the difference between active and passive layering while discovering how your handling influences your dog’s line. Through carefully designed agility sequences with different handling options, you’ll test your current skills, identify weaknesses, and further develop your handling while improving your timing, communication, and decision-making. This will help both you and your dog become more confident, independent, and consistent on course.
This course is designed for teams who already have the basic foundation for layering and want to strengthen and refine their skills through practical course work.
About the Topic Training Sets
Set 1 is the first training setup in this topic. Additional sets may be added in the future, each featuring different sequences while focusing on the same training objective.
Each set is a stand-alone course and can be completed independently.

☑️ Requirements
To get the most out of this course, you and your dog should meet the following requirements:
- You and your dog already have the foundation skills for layering.
- Your dog already understands common handling skills, such as hard and soft turns, as well as inside and outside jump cues.
- You are willing to analyse your handling and improve your timing and positioning.
⚒️ Training Setup
- Minimum field size: approximately 12 × 18 m (40 × 60 ft)
- Equipment needed: 7 jumps and 1 tunnel
